Biography
Born in 1991, to Equatorial Guinean and Angolan parents in Madrid, Spain, Oluwa Macoli Dicuasa is a multidisciplinary artist, songwriter and singer professionally known as Mortimer Sugar aka Melo5.
Mortimer Sugar aka Melo5 is one of the names shaping the new urban music scene in Spain.
Mortimer started writing music at the age of 8. In 2003 he founded the collective 2Kalibres with his cousin Chacheblack. Until 2013/2014 Mortimer Sugar was a member of the Madrid rap group Family Love, with whom he released his first music projects — Año Zero, Raíces, Hell Boyz —, and performed at renowned events in the Spanish urban scene, such as Redbull, Madrid Urban Festival, CulturaUrbana and Gold Battle.
In the last two decades Mortimer Sugar has made a name for himself in the underground scene, having collaborated with established artists in the Spanish music scene such as Duddi Wallace, Iván Tramontana aka Sr Gris and Supra Jordán Donaire. Mortimer is also well known in the Madrid urban circuit, increasingly on the rise: the rapper has performed in legendary venues in the capital, including Clamores, Café la Palma, Sala Barco, Independance Club and Siroco.
Mortimer’s music is hip hop and rap in Spanish. He is known for blending raw rhymes and old-school rhythms with Afrobeats, dancehall and Latin sounds.
In 2025, Mortimer Sugar aka Melo5 joined the London-based music label GFRé Music.
